Inkary Canada — Where Music, Culture & Community Meet
If you've walked through Granville Island and spotted the bright orange storefront with the alpaca out front — that's us. But the story of Inkary Canada goes much deeper than a gift shop.
It started with music
In 1996, Edgar Muenala — a pan flute virtuoso from Ecuador — arrived on Granville Island with his instrument and a dream. He performed as a street musician on these very streets, sharing world music with tourists and locals who stopped to listen. What began as a musical journey quickly grew into something bigger: a connection to Vancouver, to Granville Island, and to the community that would one day become the heart of Inkary Canada.
Edgar's music career has taken him around the world. He has accumulated over 30 million views worldwide and performed at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics — one of the most prestigious stages in the world. His new age and world music continues to touch hearts globally, and is available today on Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music, and all major platforms.
A family dream twenty years in the making
While the music played, the family was building something alongside it. For years Edgar and his family travelled across Canada — festivals, markets, and community events — selling handmade products, connecting with people, and learning what truly matters to customers looking for something authentic and special.
In 2006, the dream became reality. Inkary Canada opened its doors on Granville Island — the same streets where Edgar once performed as a young musician. That moment meant everything to our family, and it still does.
What we offer today
Today Inkary Canada is one of Granville Island's most loved gift and souvenir shops. We carry a huge selection of Vancouver and Canadian gifts — hoodies, t-shirts, tote bags, keychains, mugs, hats, magnets, and jewellery — alongside our signature collection of over 100 handmade alpaca wool stuffed animals, crafted by artisan families in Bolivia, Peru, and Ecuador. Something for everyone, all under one bright orange roof.

Nearly 30 years after Edgar first played music on these streets, Inkary Canada is thriving. The last three years have been our best in over 15 years — and we are more grateful and excited than ever. Every customer who walks through our doors becomes part of this story.
